Ciaran Cannon TD. Minister of State for Training and Skills at the Dept of Education and Skills will be officially opening the Careers at Sea Expo.
Many areas of the Marine Industry have proven to be unaffected by the economic downturn. As a result, there is a worldwide demand and career opportunities for qualified marine personnel. The Careers At Sea Expo will showcase the range of careers that are currently available to people who wish to enter the marine industry. With the opportunity to live and work in warm climates, visiting some of the most beautiful places on earth, it’s easy to see why so many people choose a career at sea.
Bow Waves will outline how easy it is for an individual to gain entry into the Marine Industry by discussing the courses which they deliver by their Bow Waves Maritime Training Staff. Included in the line up for the evening is: informative talks given by several Guest Speakers who have gained professional experience of working at sea/in the maritime industry. Each Guest Speaker will outline: how they gained access into their maritime profession, their professional experience, and any pitfalls they may have encountered along the way.
Maritime companies will highlight their interest as employers in the marine industry and will cover a wide range of career opportunities including: crewing and skippering of offshore vessels & super yachts, training Instruction, charter industry, deckhands, and the wide range of job opportunities in the cruise ship industry. The Careers at Sea Expo with enable companies the opportunity to actively liaise and network with potential candidates/employees.
There will be plenty of opportunity to engage in question and answer sessions throughout the evening with all the guest speakers attending. The Bow Waves team will be on hand to answer any questions or queries regarding the training courses they provide, as well as providing career guidance.
The evening will be invaluable for anyone considering a career change or even working abroad. Having previous experience of the marine sector or the boating sector is not required to attend this event. The Careers at Sea Expo is open to the public and all are welcome.
